At 8 o'clock last Wednesday evening Mr. Daniel G. Rhodes died at his residence after an illness of about two weeks. Mr. Rhodes was aged 72 years and 8 days, having been born in Blair county near the place of his death December 5, 1827. All of his life was spent on the farm. He was industrious and benevolent and during his long career made a host of friends who will learn of his death with much regret. In 1851 he was married to Miss Ann Shriver and to this union were born eleven children, nine of whom are yet living and are: Mrs. Elizabeth King, of Salemville; Mrs. Rebecca Smith, of Huntingdon; Samuel S. Rhodes, of Curryville; Mrs. Mary Loose, of Roaring Spring; Mrs. Fannie Brumbaugh, and Mrs. Annie Burget, of Fredericksburg; Levi S. Rhodes, of Fredericksburg; John S. Rhodes, of Clover Creek; Mrs. Minnie Settle, of New Enterprise. Mrs. Rhodes preceded him to the grave about a year ago. Deceased was a member of the German Baptist church, having connected himself with that denomination in early life. Funeral services were conducted by Elder T. B. Maddocks. Interment at Minonite [Mennonite] cemetery.
