A correspondent at Clappertown, under date of November 25, writes: The people of this community were surprised to hear of the death of Miss Hannah Rhodes yesterday evening. She died at the home of her parents, about a half mile south of this place, at a quarter till 5 o'clock. She had been ailing for two years, and for several months was in a delicate condition, but was not considered dangerous until Sunday, when she took a smothering spell and lingered till the time above stated, when death ended her sufferings and another young life was blotted out by consumption. She leaves a father, mother, four brothers and one sister to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate daughter and sister, who have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement. She was the youngest daughter of Christ. and Sarah Rhodes, and always lived at home, caring for her parents in their declining years. Her brothers and sisters are: William D., of this place; Hugh D., of Piney Creek; Jacob, of Martinsburg; Abram, of Colorado, and Mary Ellen, wife of Holliday Reynolds, of Martinsburg. She was a member of the Lutheran church at this place and a regular attendant at the house of God when health permitted. The funeral will take place Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, after which the remains will be interred in the family burying-ground. She was aged 33 years, 6 months and 4 days.
