Richards, age 87, of 442 W. 15th Street, Tyrone died Saturday, September 27, 2003 at 5:25 a.m. at Altoona Hospital. She was born February 7, 1916 in Tyrone, the daughter of William C. and Lucy Williams Beck and on June 14, 1945 she was married to Elmo L. Richards at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Tyrone by Reverend Mickey. She is survived by her husband and a son and a daughter - Lynn Richards and wife Florida of Rialto, CA and Anita Ellenberger, wife of William Ellenberger of Tyrone; on grandson, Aaron Ellenberger of Escondido, CA and a sister Susan Lang of Sun City, Arizona. Mrs. Richards was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, the Ladies Missionary Society and had taught young people in Sunday School. She was a member of the Tyrone Business and Professional Women's Club, the former Tyrone Garden Club and a life member of the National Education Association and the Pennsylvania State Education Association and had served as a church organist in several area churches. She was a graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1935 and a 1939 graduate of Juniata College and a 1965 graduate of Altoona Bible Institute. She retired in 1978 as a teacher in the Bellwood-Antis School system and had previously taught in both Tyrone and Blandburg. She did oil painting and was a chalk artist. This was done with a gospel message. She had been active with Child Evangelism, a good news club for children, and the Awana Club, a children's ministry. Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline B. Richards will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Roy G. Garthwaite officiating. Interment will be in Blair Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Grace Baptist Church, 1553 Columbia Avenue, Tyrone, PA 16686; Child Evangelism Fellowship of Altoona, 1614 E.
