"Jim" Richardson Sr., 69, of 3920 Main Street Scotland, PA, died on Monday, July 18, 2005 in the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, MD. Born on January 13, 1936 in Tyrone, PA, he was a son of the late Charles and Edith Keleckner Richardson. Jim was a graduate of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology and Penn State University. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where he served as head usher for the 10:30 a.m. mass since 1968. He also served on the Evangelism Committee and participated in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel. Retired since 1992, Jim was a carpentry teacher at Scotland School for Veteran's Children. He also owned and operated Jim Richardson Home and Remodeling. He was a Fourth Degree Knight with Knights of Columbus Post 1426 and a member of the Knights' Dart League; a member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, where he was a volunteer bingo caller and a member of its bowling league; a member of Hume-McNeal-Byers AmVets Post 224; and the Marine Corps bowling league. Jim served on the Greene Twp. Water and Sewer Board; and he coached baseball for Scotland Little League, as well as the Colt and American Legion Leagues. He and his wife Charmagne also raised Great Danes. He is survived by his wife, Charmagne (Szymborski) Richardson, whom he married on September 17, 1999; four children, Mary Patricia (wife of Leonard) Kauffman, of Chambersburg, Marjorie Ann (wife of Michael) Ostroff of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, James W. Richardson Jr. (and wife Deborah) of Mechanicsburg, and Michelle Maureen Dale (and fianc‚ Dave Noel) of Shippensburg; two brothers, Charles Richardson of Tyrone, PA, and Ernest Richardson of Lancaster, PA; three sisters, Martha Stonebraker of Albuquerque, NM, Gertrude Irvin, and Vicki Geissinger, both of Tyrone; two stepdaughters, Theresa Renee (wife of Richard) Brindle of Scotland, PA, and Jacqueline Nicole (wife of Frederick) Buckheit, of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Aaron and Kathleen Kauffman, Jackie Dale, Ryan and Chandler Ostroff, and Nathan Noel; and five step-grandchildren, Curtis Becker, Kyle Kennedy, Clayton Brindle, Miranda Buckheit, and Jarrett Brindle. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Louise O'Toole Richardson on July 5, 1997. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2005 in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg. The Rev. James R. O'Brien will officiate. Interment will follow in Corpus Christi Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with a Vigil Service beginning at 8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Alumni Foundation, c/o Alex Monro, 750 East King Street, Lancaster, PA 17602-3198.
