All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ FINDS LIFELESS BODY OF SON IN GARAGE AT HOME Charles Edward Riling, aged 30, of 5505 Avondale avenue, Eldorado, was found dead in an automobile in the garage at his home at 6.30 o'clock this morning, death having resulted from a bullet wound of the head. His lifeless body was discovered by his father, Woods B. Riling, and death had occurred some hours earlier. It is believed that the young man secured a 22 calibre rifle from the house about midnight, members of the family having heard the kitchen door at the home open and close at that time. The rifle was one kept in the house and used in shooting mark. Members of the family had not seen the young man since Saturday evening. The body was found in the rear seat of the automobile, with the rifle between the legs. Charles Edward Riling was born in the city on Dec. 27, 1907, a son of Woods B. and Mabel (Metzger) Riling, and operated a gasoline station at Union and Ward avenues, Allegheny Furnace. Surviving are the parents and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Clara Miller of Tyrone, Mrs. Helen King of Huntingdon, William, in Illinois, Mrs. Edna Conrad and Ernest Riling of the city, Mrs. John Elvey and Fred, at the home. He was of the Lutheran faith. RILING - Funeral services for Charles Edward Riling of 5505 Avondale avenue, Eldorado, will be held at 3.30 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Stevens Memorial chapel.
