RITCHEY, Of 201 E. 23rd Ave., died at 3:15 a.m. today, Dec. 7, 1978, in Hillview Nursing Home, after an extended illness. Known as "Colonel," Mr. Ritchey operated a delicatessen in the Fairview area for many years. He also worked as a conductor on the Allegheny Division of Conrail before retiring in August 1973 after 33 years of service. Mr. Ritchey was born Aug. 21, 1910, the son of William B. and Bertha C. (Burns) Ritchey and was twice married, first to Myra Maurer, who died May 18, 1961, and then to Myrza Maurer on Nov. 16, 1961. Surviving are his wife, his father of Altoona and seven brothers and sisters, Raymond and Clyde of Altoona, Dean of Chicago, Donald of New Jersey, Mrs. Catherine Shew of Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. Dorothy Askey of Youngstown, Ohio and Mrs. Betty Jane Austin of Phoenix, Ariz. He attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of the United Transportation Union. Friends will be received at the Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Juniata, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Altoona Mirror, December 7, 1978
