Ritchey of 171 Washington avenue, died early yesterday morning at Camp Upton, L.I., while visiting her son, Thomas, a soldier at that camp. Five of Mrs. Ritchey's nine children are ill with influenza, the same disease that caused her death, one son, David, being confined to the Altoona hospital in a critical condition. Mrs. Ritchey, who was 49 years of age, left on Nov. 16 with her son, David, for Camp Upton, to visit with her other son. While on the way both were caught in a storm and their clothes became damp. Influenza set in and this was followed by pneumonia. Last week, David was brought home and sent to the Altoona hospital, but the condition of his mother was such that she could not be moved. The wife of Milton Ritchey, she was born in Logan township, Nov. 21, 1871, and spent her entire life in this vicinity. She was of the Baptist faith. Besides her husband, she is survived by the following children: M. Austin, in France; Aden Thomas, Camp Upton; Ira H., in an army camp in Kentucky; David F., William, Martha, Anna, John and George, all at home. The remains will be brought to this city and will be taken in charge by Undertakers Lafferty and Tobias. Funeral notice later. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Saturday Morning, November 30, 1918 FUNERAL NOTICE The body of Mrs. Susan Ritchie arrived from New York yesterday afternoon and was taken to the funeral parlors of Lafferty and Tobias where it can be viewed this morning until 11 o'clock.
