Gerald Roberts Jr. Gerald Roberts Jr., 60, 1907 Madison Ave., Tyrone, died Sunday afternoon, May 14, 2000. He was born Aug. 20, 1939, in Philipsburg, the son of the late Raymond G. and Gladys L. Roberts. He married Georgia Como June 20, 1964 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Tyrone. Mr. Roberts was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Tyrone, and a past member of the Administrative Council. He retired as a guidance counselor, music supervisor and band director from the Tyrone Area School District in 1998, after 31 years of service. Mr. Roberts was a 1957 graduate of Tyrone High School, a 1964 graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor of arts degree in music and a 1967 graduate of Westminster College was a master's degree in guidance. He was a Navy veteran, serving from 1957-60, including at the School of Music, Washington, D.C., Long Beach, Calif., Hong Kong and Hawaii. Mr. Roberts was a former member of the Rotary Club, a Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, a member of Phi Mu Alpha Band Directors Honorary Fraternity, a member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, where he was past president of District VI, and a member of the Music Educators National Conference. Surviving are his wife a son, Gregory A. of Tyrone; a daughter, Gwendolyn, at home; his stepmother, Rena Sinclair Roberts of Houtzdale: a brother, William L. of Sparta, N.J.; and two granddaughters. Friends will he received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 1 p.m., today at Wesley United Methodist Church, Tyrone. Arrangements are by Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone. ROBERTS - Funeral Services for R. Gerald Roberts, Jr. will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Wesley United Methodist Church. Tyrone, with the Rev, Charles A. Fitzgerald officiating. Internment will be made at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., today at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1200 Logan Ave., Tyrone. Arrangements are by Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone. He also is survived by a daughter-in-law, Ellen; and granddaughters: Sydney and Alayna.
