Mr. Roe, 62, of Box 285, Duncansville RD 1, Carson Valley, died unexpectedly at 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 25, 1983, in Mercy Hospital. Mr. Roe retired as superintendent of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in 1975, after 33 years' service. He was born April 11, 1920, in Marietta, Ohio, the son of Grover C. and Mary (Barnhart) Roe, and March 23, 1942, in Hillard, Mich., married Rose Gulch. Surviving are his wife, three children: Richard of Salisbury, Md.; James of Altoona and Mrs. Laura Hutchison of Cross Keys, and five grandchildren. Also surviving are 10 brothers and sisters: Mrs. Nellie Dovenbarger, Jack, Bill and Don of Zanesville, Ohio; Frank of Coal Run, Ohio; Mrs. Louise Higginbotham of Lansing, Mich.; Mrs. Erma Plum of Bloomingdale, Mich.; Mrs. Joann Morris of Lakeland, Fla.; Mrs. Martha Cortland of Dewitt, Mich., and Mrs. Opal Britton of Wayland, Mich. Mr. Roe was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was also a member of Syracuse Local of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Haller Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg. ROE - The funeral of James E. Roe Sr. of Box 285, Duncansville RD 1, Carson Valley, will be held with a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, by Monsignor Thomas K. Mabon. Interment in New St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends will be received, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Haller Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg. Altoona Mirror, March 26, 1983
