Ronan, son of Mrs. Ellen Ronan, of 2216 Eleventh avenue, died at St. Anthony's hospital, Denver, Col., on Saturday, March 22, after an illness of one month. The young man had left Altoona on March 11, accompanied by his sister, Miss Jennie Ronan, and R. Kenneth Donnelly. Miss Ronan left Denver for home on last Tuesday, and did not learn of the death of her brother until arriving at Pittsburg. His demise came as a shock to his relatives and friends, as word of his improvement after reaching the west was received here early Saturday. He was born in Altoona, November 3, 1899, and attended St. John's school, from which he was graduated in the class of 1915. He was employed as a clerk in the master mechanic's office, later being transferred to the air brake shop. The young man was a member of St. Leo's Catholic church and was affiliated with the Knights of St. George, Young Men's Institute, I.A. of Mechanics, and P.R.R. relief. Besides his mother he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: W. J. Ronan of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Fred J. Hover, of Bellwood and James M., Michael J., Thomas A., Bridget C., Sue R. and Ailien [sic] M., of this city. Death has visited the family for the second time within three months, a sister, Miss Rose, having died December 15, 1918. The body is expected to arrive in this city on Tuesday and funeral arrangement will be announced later. Altoona Tribune, Monday Morning, March 24, 1919 FUNERAL NOTICE. The body of Richard Ronan arrived in this city yesterday morning and was taken yesterday afternoon to the home of his mother, Mrs. Ellen Ronan, of 2216 Eleventh avenue, where the funeral will take place tomorrow morning with mass at St. Leo's Catholic church at 9 o'clock. Interment in Calvary cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Wednesday Morning, March 26, 1919 FUNERAL NOTICE. The funeral of Richard Ronan will take place from the home of his mother, Mrs. Ellen Ronan, 2216 Eleventh avenue, Friday morning and proceed to St. Leo's Catholic church where mass will be celebrated at 9 o'clock.
