Captain E. E. Root,

Formerly a resident of this city, but for a number of years a citizen 
of Pitkin, Col., died at his home on May 15 last.  He enlisted in 
Company I, 57th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, in 1861, and was promoted to 
the rank of captain in 1864.  Lemuel Root of Bellwood and John M. Root 
of Sabbath Rest were brothers of the deceased.
