MRS. GERTRUDE E. ROOT.

  At 4.30 o'clock Friday afternoon Mrs. Gertrude E. Root, wife of 
Conductor William H. Root, of 2420 Sixth avenue, died at the home of 
her mother, Mrs. Leighty, in Ebensburg, of dropsy.  She had been a 
sufferer for the past year.  Deceased was aged 29 years, 9 months and 
16 days.  She is survived by her husband and two children - William H. 
and Hannah Viola.  She was a member of Powhatan council, No. 59, Degree 
of Pocahontas, the members of which are requested to attend the funeral 
in a body.  The remains will be brought to this city this morning and 
conveyed to her home, 2420 Sixth avenue.  The funeral will take place 
Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock.  Interment in Oak Ridge cemetery.
