Roseberry, one of the oldest and most highly respected citizens of Sinking Valley, died at his home near Arch Spring at 12:10 o’clock Thursday morning. Mr. Roseberry was born at Seven Stars, Huntingdon county, on March 16, 1843. He resided for a time at Water Street, but since 1858 had lived on the mountainside farm where death found him. By occupation he was a mail carrier with a record to be proud of. In thirty years he missed but one of his five-mile jogs from Arch Spring to Union Furnace and return. The one occasion on which he stayed at home was when the roads were impassible from a blizzard. Mr. Roseberry is survived by his wife who, at this writing, is lying seriously ill with pneumonia. At home with his mother is one son, Edgar, who during the last year has taken up his father’s task of mail carrying. The only daughter, Miss Myrtle, is a stenographer in Clearfield. Mr. Roseberry is also survived by two brothers and one sister: Robert Roseberry, of Sinking Valley; John Roseberry, of Clearfield, and Mrs. Margaret Dickson, of Sinking Valley. The immediate cause of death was heart failure brought on by Rheumatic trouble. His illness dates back eighteen months or more. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church at Arch Spring at 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Interment took place in the cemetery adjoining the church. Both Mr. Roseberry and his wife have been lifelong members of the Presbyterian church, always faithful in attendance and appreciative of the joys of service and fellowship.
