Rowe, of 325 Bell Avenue, Hurled to His Death, Near Tyrone. WAS ADJUSTING ENGINE OIL PUMP Henry M. Rowe, aged 37, of 325 Bell avenue, and a Pennsy freight engineer employed on the Middle division, was struck and instantly killed by an eastbound freight train at 4:11 o'clock yesterday morning, a half-mile west of Tyrone station. Rowe was adjusting an oil pump on engine 888, on No. 2 track, and was so engaged in his work that he failed to see or hear extra freight 3511 in charge of Engineer H. E. Martin and Conductor O. P. Maxwell, of Harrisburg, approach on No. 3 track. The pilot of the engine struck the engineman, tossing him against his locomotive with great force. His neck and right arm were broken and his skull was fractured. Fireman Finds Body. Clifford Pee, of this city, fireman on Rowe's engine, found the man's body lying between the tracks, several minutes after the eastbound train passed. Pee investigated when the engineer failed to appear and the time drew near for their engine to help a westbound train to this city. Rowe was sent to Tyrone from this city yesterday morning to work in the Central City yards, and was en route home when his engine halted behind the westbound freight, which was waiting for the Lehigh- Pennsylvania express to pass. Coroner at Scene. Members of the Middle division pay-train crew took the body to Tyrone station. Deputy Coroner C. C. Rothrock, of this city, later visited the scene of the accident and conducted an investigation. He had not decided last night if an inquest would be held. Funeral Directors Lafferty & Tobias, this city, prepared the body for burial. It was brought here last evening. Henry Malcolm Rowe was the son of Adam and Mary (deceased) Rowe. He was born December 28, 1880, at Mt. Carmel, Pa., and came to this city sixteen years ago. His first service was as a brakeman. Later he became a fireman and for several years, had been employed as an engineer. He was twice wedded, his first bride being Lillian Alberts, of Mt. Carmel, who died eight years ago. In August, 1914, the engineer married Mrs. Margaret Fish, of this city, who survives with three children: Mildred, Mary and William. Three brothers, James, Elmer and Albert, all of Mt. Carmel, also survive, with a sister, Miss Edna, at home. Rowe was a member of the local Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the P.R.R. Relief association. Funeral services will be announced later. Burial will take place at Mt. Carmel. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Saturday Morning, January 27, 1917 Funeral Notice. Funeral services for the late H. M.
