Rutter, of Altoona, a former resident of Huntingdon, was killed by the cars on the Pittsburg division on Sunday night. Mr. Rutter was a brakeman on the Pennsylvania Railroad, and met his death while attending to the shifting of cars. He was born in this country February 28, 1839. Shortly after his marriage, which occurred in 1861, he enlisted in a home regiment, and his reputation as a soldier for intrepid bravery and daring was widespread. About ten years ago he removed to Altoona, where he leaves a wife and eight children. He was distinguished as a man of sterling character, and his unfortunate death is widely mourned.
