Rutter, wife of John W. Rutter, a veteran of the Civil war, died at 5:15 o'clock yesterday morning at the home, 712 Sixth street, following a stroke of paralysis suffered Wednesday morning. She had been in failing health since last summer, when she suffered her first stroke. She was born in Huntingdon county, January 6, 1846, the daughter of Joseph and Susan Kelley. Her husband survives with these children: Mrs. Lydia Miller, Mrs. C. S. Smith, H. C. Rutter, James Rutter, and Mrs. William Rutherford, of this city, and Mrs. S. G. Johnson, of Cresson, besides five grandchildren and two brothers, Samuel and James Kelley, of this city, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Blackburn, of this city. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 4 o'clock, followed by private interment in Oak Ridge cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Friday, February 7, 1919, page 10
