All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _______________________________________________ DAVID "JERRY" RYAN, Age 75, of Harrisburg, PA, died Thursday, August 5, 2004 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA. Mr. Ryan was a millwright with the Carpenter's and Joiner's Local #287 for 30 years. He was a member of Colonial Park Community Baptist Church, where he served in many official capacities. He was responsible for helping complete many projects for the building's upkeep and was known in the church as the "Handy Man" He served in the Army and spent 9 months on the battlefield during the Korean War. He was awarded the Silver Star. He was born in Altoona on September 27, 1928 and graduated from the Altoona High School in 1946. He was the son of the late Jesse A. and Margaret Figart Ryan. Mr. Ryan was an avid rabbit hunter and was also a member of the NRA. He was a good friend and willingly helped everyone who needed his expertise. Many friends and family often referred to Mr. Ryan as the "Rock" in their life. He had additional hobbies which also included gardening, reading and building projects with his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Deen) Ryan, whom he married on May 31, 1959. He is also survived by his daughter, Kellie Beth (Ryan) Fresolone and husband George of Wilmington, Delaware; son Kevin David Ryan and wife, Kelly of Harrisburg, PA; four grandchildren, Patrick, Aaron and Owen Fresolone and Libby Ryan; sister Dorothy Ross of Harrisburg; and brothers Ronald Ryan of Altoona and Theodore Ryan of Ohio. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Muri. Arrangements are being handled by Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, August 9, 2004. A Memorial Service will be at Community Baptist Church at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2004, with the Reverend Tim Munson officiating. A luncheon will be held in the church fellowship hall following the memorial service. Interment will be prior to the memorial service at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations may be made to the Colonial Park Community Baptist Church, 700 South Houcks Road, Harrisburg, PA 17109 or to the American Heart Association, 1517 Cedar Cliff Drive, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
