Our Martinsburg correspondent informs us that Thursday forenoon, Mr. Peter Sadtler, an aged man residing in or near Roaring Spring, called at the residence of Frank McMasters, near Martinsburg, with a view of spending the day with Mr. McMasters. To enter the sitting room Mr. Sadtler had to ascend a flight of stairs to reach the second floor, there being a basement story to the building. Reaching the topmost step he was seized with an attack of vertigo and fell to the bottom of the stairway, striking a board edgeways, injuring himself so severely internally that he died in a short time. His only exclamation was "Hadn't I a hard fall ?" Dr. H. C. Bloom was summoned at once but ere he reached the bedside of the suffering man the vital spark had quit the tenement and his soul ascended to the God who gave it. Mr. Peter Sadtler, a notice of whose death has already appeared in the TRIBUNE, was a native of Wurtemburg, Germany, where he was born November 30, 1816. He came to this country about 30 years ago and lived in this locality a greater portion of that time. He lived with his relative part of the time, Mr. Adam Korb. Mr. Sadtler was a kind- hearted Christian. His great delight was to visit the sick and minister to their wants. He was a member of the Catholic church and was interred in the cemetery at Newry, where services were held on Saturday at 9 a.m. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, August 26, 1886, page 4
