The following communication has been received from Allegheny, Pa., for our publication. It is our sad duty to chronicle the sudden and unexpected death of one of Altoona's former well known ladies, whose many acts of kindness and watchful care in sickness will be lovingly remembered by many of the older citizens of Altoona. We refer to the death of Mrs. Sager, relict of John Sager, who formerly resided in Logantown. Mrs. Sager was suddenly, without a moment's warning, summoned from life to death by a fatal attack of heart failure. Although she had been in rather delicate health still she attended to her household duties, being housekeeper for her son, John, jr., who has always provided a comfortable home for his mother since the death of his father, over twenty years ago, and while with her through life, was also with her when death came, provided a very creditable, Christian burial for her remains in "Uniondale," Allegheny City cemetery. Mrs. Sager was a trained nurse and she never seemed more happy than when she was administering comfort and care for the sick, or alleviating the keen pangs of sorrow in the homes of the bereaved. She sacrificed every comfort of her own to do good to others; in her later years she evidently felt she was not long for this world, and fixed her faith on Him, who is strong to deliver, and powerful to save. She thus leaves to her children a rich legacy by the uprightness of her character, and by her example of generosity and kindliness she cannot fail to leave an impress worthy of imitation. The world is better for her having lived, and many persons who recall her ministrations of kindliness in sickness and death will drop a silent tear of affection and rise up to bless her name. She leaves besides John, with whom she made her home, George, of Altoona; Amelia, married to Mr. Shoemaker, of Pittsburg; Josephine, of Allegheny, and William, of Parsons, W.Va. - A Former Neighbor.
