C. Stewart, her son-in-law, at Tyrone Forges, Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Sample was the daughter of the late Captain John Steel, and grand-daughter of General John Steel of Revolutionary fame. She was born in Philadelphia on March 19, 1820. Her family moved to Lancaster county where she became the wife of Dr. N. W. Sample, jr., who died in 1849, leaving her with the care of four children, all of whom survive her. They are Mrs. Jane P. Long of Lancaster, N. W. Sample, superintendent of the Denver and Rio Grande railroad, Denver; John S. Sample, Connellsville, Pa.; and Mrs. S. C. Stewart of Tyrone Forges. She made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart at Tyrone Forges since 1865. Funeral services will be conducted by her pastor, Rev. H. H. Henry, at the residence of S. C. Stewart, at 8 o'clock tomorrow evening. The cortege will proceed on Monday morning to Lacock cemetery, near Lancaster, where the mortal remains will be laid to rest beside her husband.
