Savitts, 84, of Rural Route 1, Saxton, a former Tyrone resident, died Monday March 1, 2004 at 4:35 p.m. at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. She was born Jan. 27, 1920 in Dalton, SD. She was the daughter of John B. and Esther (Garner) Shoemaker. She was married to Paul C. Savitts on May 10, 1938 in Cumberland, MD. He preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1999. She is survived by two daughters and one son: Mrs. William (Jean S.) Dunn, RR 1, Saxton; Shirley Irene Moussiaux, Frederick, MD and James P. "Butch" Savitts, Richmond, VA. She is also survived by grandchildren: Paul V. Savitts, Jonell, John and Kristi Moussiaux; Eric and Sharon Savitts; Daniel and Brenda Winters and Karen Doyon. Mrs. Savitts is also survived by two brothers and one sister: James Shoemaker, RD 2, Huntingdon; Harry Shoemaker, Elizabeth Township and Nelda Opfer also of Elizabeth Township. She was preceded in death by a son, Patrick H. Savitts; granddaughter, Laura Savitts; grandson, David Winters and brothers, William "Pinky" Shoemaker and John Shoemaker. She was of the Methodist faith. Mrs. Savitts was employed by Petersburg Transformer at one time. She was also known for her quilt making and flower gardening. She enjoyed traveling, music and photography. She also loved her family and neighbors and friends who visited. She was a true and gentle friend to all from Canada to Louisiana. Friends will be received at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home in Huntingdon on Wednesday after 7 p.m. and on Thursday at 9 a.m. until the time of services scheduled for 11 a.m. The Reverend James A. Stork officiating. Burial will be at the Donation Cemetery, RD 2, Huntingdon. A memorial contribution may be made in her name to the Saxton Volunteer Fire Co., Ambulance Division, P.O.
