All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _______________________________________________ Altoona Mirror 01/16/1966 [Death date January 14, 1967] Hollidaysburg Hotel Operator Dies In Mercy Mrs. Mildred Schmidhammer, proprietress of the William Penn Hotel, Hollidaysburg, and residing at 410 Broad St., Hollidaysburg, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Mercy Hospital, where she had been a patient since Dec. 29. She was born in Altoona April 22, 1906, a daughter of Howard and Elizabeth (Yohn) Shultzaberger, and in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, married Max Schmidhammer who died in 1946. Surviving are four children, William A. of Altoona, James of Claysburg, Mrs. Maxine Manna of Bristol and Miss Judi at home: 10 grandchildren, one great- grandchild, a brother and two sisters, Clarence of Vienna,Va., Mrs. Ester Myers of Altoona and Mrs. Ethel Werfel of Marion, Ohio. Mrs. Schmidhammer was a member of St. Mary's Church and Guild, a past president of the Hollidaysburg American Legion Auxiliary, member of The Knights of St George and the Altoona VFW Auxiliaries.
