Henry Schmitt, died on Sunday, passed from this life at 10:50 o'clock last night, his disease being inflammation of the kidneys. Mr. Schmitt was born at Sandhauser, Baden, Germany, March 24, 1848. In 1868 he came to this country, settling in Lancaster, where he married Miss Annie Bohn. In 1869 he removed to Lock Haven and there engaged in the manufacturing of cigars. He came to Altoona a number of years ago and since his residence in this city had been engaged in the tobacco business. He is survived by a wife and six children. Besides those two brothers and three sisters also survive. They are Henry and Philip Schmitt, Mrs. Margaret Bork, Mrs. Annie M. Zimmerman and Mrs. R. Wagner. The deceased was an excellent man. The double blow to his family is a most sever affliction. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in Oak Ridge cemetery.
