We announce with deep sorry the death of Mrs. Catharine Schmucker, wife of G. E. Schmucker, of Cove Forge, which took place Tuesday morning at her home. Mrs. Schmucker was the only daughter of Judge Robert Stewart and wife of this city, and their grief at this unexpected bereavement can not be measured save by those who have passed through the same sharp and agonizing experience. Beside her parents, brothers and husband, Mrs. Schmucker is survived by three children - two boys and one girl - Carl, Glenn and Carrie. She was in the 32d year of her age and was young to leave this world which was a very pleasant one to her. But she planned her life work well and with a wise reference to that future which is, after all the true life, and when the summons came her lamp was filled with the oil of divine grace, and was trimmed and burning. In early youth she identified herself with the Presbyterian church and was a faithful and consistent member of the same, adorning her home by those graces of life which grow out of spiritual union with Christ, and ever setting these by whom she was surrounded an example of holy living. And thus it is that while husband, parents and other friends are sore stricken and overwhelmed with grief, at the great loss which they have sustained, they sorrow not as those without hope but are comforted and sustained by the knowledge that her spirit is now an inhabitant of the city which hath foundation that can never be removed, and that in a little while they shall rejoin her. "Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord." Altoona Tribune, March 21, 1889
