Mrs. Elizabeth Schwartz, wife of John C. Schwartz, died yesterday morning at 8:15 o'clock, in the Altoona hospital. The deceased lady was last Friday operated upon for removal of gall stones. She was apparently doing well up to within an hour of the collapse that ended in her death. Mrs. Schwartz was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wetzel, both deceased, and was born March 29, 1869, on a farm near Pitman, Schuylkill county. She was the last living daughter in a large family and is survived by only one brother, Peter Wetzel, who remains on the home farm near Pitman. In May, 1888, she became the wife of John C. Schwartz and with him reared a family of five children, who survive as a consolation to the bereaved husband and father. They are Mrs. William Elders and Mrs. Chester Goodman, both of Juniata; Joseph, Clara and Anna, at home. For some seventeen years the family made their home in Juniata and the deceased was highly esteemed as a sincere Christian woman, a devoted wife and mother and a kindly neighbor. She was active in the membership of Grace United Evangelical church and was also a member of the Royal Neighbors' ladies' auxiliary to the order of Woodmen, and was a member of the Ladies' auxiliary to the Order of Railway Trainmen. Services over her remains will be conducted by her pastor, the Rev. S. P. Remerfi and will be held in the home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Interment will be made in Grandview cemetery.
