Louise Selders, of Chariton, Iowa, died at the home of her nephew, Postmaster Robert Johnston, of Farrell, Pa., Wednesday evening, of pneumonia, after a two weeks' illness. Miss Selders was the daughter of Henry and Charlotte Selders (both deceased) and was the last of a family of twelve children. She was born in Canoe valley, Blair county, October 11, 1845, at the age of 3 years removing to Westmoreland county, where the family resided until 1866, when they moved to Iowa, where she had lived ever since on a large farm near Chariton. She was a faithful member of the United Brethren church near her home, was of a kind, loving disposition, beloved by all who knew her. She has many friends and relatives in Pennsylvania, whom she came to visit in August. She was taken seriously ill, being confined to her bed for several weeks at the home of her cousin, H. J. Selders, of Juniata, leaving for her home on November 18, stopping en route at Farrell to visit her nephew and family. At Farrell she was seized with the illness which proved fatal; in her weakened condition she was unable to stand it, dying at the time stated. Friends will leave with the body for Iowa Friday morning, funeral to take place Sunday from her home church. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Friday Morning, December 8, 1916
