Brice Sell, for many years a well known minister of the Church of the Brethren in Blair county, died at 10.20 o'clock Saturday night at her home in Freedom township, near Leamersville, of a complication of diseases after several weeks' illness. She was born in Taylor township, Aug. 23, 1844, a daughter of Thomas and Catherine Burns, and was the last of a family of eight children. She was united in marriage with Rev. Sell on Sept. 28, 1868, and was the mother of nine children. Surviving are three sons and two daughters, Daniel M. Sell and Mrs. Gloria Powell of the city; Stephen H. Sell of Roaring Spring; Edgar Sell of Freedom township and Mrs. Arvilla Leonard, who resides on the old home farm where the aged Mrs. Sell also lived. Thirty-four grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Sell was a member of the Church of the Brethren for sixty years. The funeral cortege will leave the late home at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon for the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren where funeral services will be held with Rev. Galen B. Royer, D.D., of Johnstown, and Rev. J. Q. Showalter of Newry officiating. Interment will be made in the Carson Valley cemetery. Altoona Mirror, December 8, 1930, p. 30, column 1
