Sell Dies Following Lengthy Illness Stephen H. Sell, 81, of 714 Rockingham St., Roaring Spring, retired employee of the 2nd St. steel shop of the Altoona Works, died at 5:30 a.m. today in Mercy Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Sell retired in 1950 after 33 years' service with the Pennsylvania Railroad. He formerly lived in Altoona. A native of Leamersville, Mr. Sell was born May 30, 1877, a son of the Rev. Brice and Elizabeth (Burns) Sell. His wife, the former Barbara E. Metzker, whom he married in 1898, died in July, 1957. Surviving are seven children, Chalmer C., Mrs. Elsie Replogle and Emory W. of Roaring Spring, Irvin R. of Duncansville, Mrs. Elsa Purcell of Altoona, Brice of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Genevieve Herbert of Norfolk, Va., and one sister, Mrs. Conrad Powell of Altoona. Mr. Sell was a member of the Roaring Spring Church of the Brethren. Friends will be received at the Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring, after 7 p.m. today. Altoona Mirror, November 1, 1958
