SHADE, HOLLIDAYSBURG SOLDIER, DEAD Ralph R. Shade, a well known Hollidaysburg young man, who has been in the service of the United States for a number of years, died at Camp Beauregard, Louisiana, on Monday, October 12 at 1.35 o'clock, death being caused by pneumonia. The body arrived in this city yesterday afternoon, at 3.50 o'clock, and was removed to the home of his mother, Mrs. Mary Shade at 1224 Spruce street, Hollidaysburg. The young man was born at Ore Hill, Oct. 13, 1892, and has been in the service for almost six years, having enlisted on the Fifteenth of November, 1912. He served for several years at the Panama Canal, and in Mexico, and was lately transferred to Louisiana, presumably to get ready for overseas duty. After locating in Louisiana, Shade contracted pneumonia, from which he died. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Shade of Hollidaysburg and the following brothers and sisters: William, J. E., Charles, Collin, Warren and Howard and Mrs. Jennie Yingling of this city, Mrs. Roddie Ickes, of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Melda Shoop, of Lakemont Terrace. The body was taken to the home of the mother, at 1224 Spruce street, Hollidaysburg where services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon, followed by interment in the Presbyterian cemetery. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Friday Morning, October 18, 1918 FUNERAL NOTICE The funeral services of Ralph Morrison Shade will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of his brother Warren Shade, 1224 Spruce street, Hillcrest.
