Frederick Anthony Shantz,

One of the oldest resident of this city, died at 12:30 this morning at 
his residence, 1500 Fifth avenue, of diseases incident to old age.  
Deceased was born at Olefsnitz-bie-Blanen, Saxony, on November 20, 
1806, and was consequently over 87 years of age.  He came to America in 
1865.  He is survived by three children - Richard, residing at the 
family residence, Mrs. Earnest Biedsch, of Altoona, and Mrs. Pauline 
Hinter, of Cleveland, Ohio.  Besides his children two brothers survive, 
who reside on the old homestead in Germany.  The funeral will take 
place on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock; interment in Fairview 
cemetery.
