(Shorty) Shaw, 81, of 1205 Lower Bodines Road, Trout Run died unexpectedly at Williamsport Hospital on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004. He was born July 26, 1922 in Roaring Springs, the son of Emma Barbara (Brown) Shaw and Alvie Lincoln Shaw, and on Oct. 8, 1940 in Winchester, Va., married Gertrude Louise Weitzel, who survives. He is survived by four daughters, Barbara and Frank Henry of Pennsylvania Furnace, Beverly J. Riggleman and David Ewing of Tyrone, Bonnie and Rev. Timothy Gardner of Trout Run, and Beatrice and Harold Brown of Montoursville; four sons, Richard W. and Jebby Poullos of Tyrone, Robert J. and Susan Shaw of Cogan Station, and Walter (Michael) Shaw of Trout Run. Also a sister, Algie and Robert Black of Brooks Mills; 38 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons, Forrest Ronald, William Larry and David Lynn Shaw; and four brothers. He was a member of the Red Run Rod and Gun Club and Marine Corp. league of Ralston. He had served in the Navy from 1941 to 1945 on the USS Kent Island. He was a 1940 graduate of Morrison Cove High School in Martinsburg. He worked at the Pennsylvania Railroad in Altoona and later as a carpenter, until retiring in 1984. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening. Funeral services will be at the Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home in Warriors Mark on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Timothy L. Gardner officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park in Bellwood. Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the Bruce E. Cox Funeral Home in Warriors Mark.
