All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _______________________________________________ HENRY SHAW, One of East Freedom's oldest and best known residents, died at his home Sunday morning at 9.30 o'clock, death following a two week's illness from complications. Mr. Shaw was born at Poplar Run, March 10, 1845, the son of William and Malinda Shaw. Early in life the family moved to East Freedom where he resided ever since. As a young man, he was engaged in hoop making, later learning the blacksmith trade. Later in life he was employed by the D.M. Bare Paper company at Roaring Spring. Mr. Shaw was a stalwart citizen and took an interest in public affairs, serving the township on various occasions as an auditor and as road supervisor and one term on the election board. He was united in marriage in 1885 with Miss Rebecca Weyandt, who died during the present winter. He is survived by two sons, Charles and Frank, both of East Freedom. Eight grandchildren and several sisters survive. He was a devoted member of St. Patrick's Catholic church in Newry, where funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, in charge of Rev. O'Donnell.
