F. Shearer, formerly pastor of the Second Lutheran church of this city, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. B. S. Bailey, in San Francisco, Cal. The circumstances surrounding the death of Mrs. Shearer were particularly distressing. Her demise occurred March 26, and was the result of burns and shock received a few nights previous. On the night in question she was sitting in her room reading, when her clothing ignited from an oil stove used for heating purposes. She made her way into the room occupied by her daughter-in- law, where Mr. Bailey tore the burning garments from the helpless woman and extinguished the flames. Her body was badly burned, but a far more serious complication was the shock to the nervous system. The deceased was aged 72 years.
