Shellenberger died at this home, 227 Third avenue, at 11:11 o'clock yesterday morning of a complication of diseases, after a short illness. Deceased was born in Juniata county on October 8, 1846, came to this city in 1889, entered the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad company and for a number of years worked as a teamster. He was a member of the Fifth Avenue Methodist Episcopal church and was esteemed in the community in which he lived and by a wide circle of friends. He is survived by his wife and these children: Harry, Orville, Emma and Nellie, at home; James, Banks, John, Mrs. Bertha Shaver, Mrs. Hannah Montgomery and Mrs. Sylvia Raymond, of this city, and Charles, of Juniata county. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, services at the house. Interment in Rose Hill cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Friday Morning, May 10, 1918, page 10
