The funeral cortege will leave his late residence, near Canoe Creek, at 10 a.m., and proceed to the Geeseytown Lutheran church, where services will be held. Interment in the Frankstown cemetery. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Saturday, January 10, 1891 FRANKSTOWN FACTS. The grim messenger of death has again visited our community and called away one of our oldest residents. Jacob Shellenberger died at his home near Canoe Creek on Thursday, January 8, at 1 o'clock p.m. from an epileptic stroke which he had the previous day, although he had been in declining health for some time past. He was born October 5, 1805, and was, therefore, aged 85 years, 3 months and 3 days. On January 7, 1836, in Canoe Valley, he married Miss Mary Rodkey, who survives him. To this union eleven children were born, two of whom preceded him to the tomb. He leaves forty-four grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. His living children are: Mary, wife of Jacob Bouslough, of the state of Illinois; Eliza Jane, widow of Mr. Sylvester Stiffler, of Hollidaysburg; Catharine, wife of James Suter, of Springfield Furnace, and Rachel, wife of William Leamer; Henry and William Shellenberger; Louisa, wife of John Neal; Sarah, wife of Israel H. Walters, and Susan, unmarried, and at home, all of Frankstown township. He was colonel of the militia for a number of years. He was a blacksmith, which occupation he successfully followed for a number of years after marriage at Yellow Springs and afterward at Canoe Creek. His funeral services were conducted Sunday, January 11, in the Lutheran church by Rev. Isaac Krider, pastor, after which his remains were laid to rest in the Frankstown cemetery to await the resurrection call. Peace to his ashes. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Tuesday, January 13, 1891
