Shelley, one of the Sixth ward's best known business men, died at his home, 2390 Sixth avenue, at 8.45 o'clock Sunday morning of a complication of diseases. He had been ill about four months. Deceased was born in Juniata county September 26, 1849. He came to Altoona eleven years ago and at the time of his death was senior member of the grocery firm of P. G. Shelley & Son, 2300 Sixth avenue. He is survived by his wife, whose maiden name was Clara Myers, and two children, Mrs. Grace Crider and Ira J., both of this city; also by his aged mother, of McAllisterville, and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Banks Kauffman, of Mifflin; Mrs. Lee Shellenberger, of McAllisterville; Jacob Shelley, of the same place, and W. H., of Richfield. Deceased was a prominent member of Simpson Methodist Episcopal church, being recording steward at the time of his death. He was a member of Altoona castle 145, Knights of the Golden Eagle, and Davis lodge of Odd Fellows. Altoona Tribune, Thursday, February 9, 1899
