Shelo [sic], 82, of 312 Howard avenue, Altoona, who died yesterday morning at 8:15 o'clock, will be held at the Leslie E. Axe funeral home, 413 Howard avenue, Altoona, Sunday at 2 o'clock. Rev. J. L. Donaldson will officiate, assisted by Blair Campbell. Burial will be in Fairlawn cemetery, Roaring Spring. Mr. Shelow, a native of Blair county, was born on June 1, 1853, at McKees Gap, a son of John E. and Mary Ann (Ross) Shelow. He entered the Pennsylvania railroad service as a carpenter in the freight shop and also worked at the east-bound repair yards. He was retired May 1, 1933. He operated the first store in Logan town, now Seventh ward, since 1890. Mr. Shelow married Ruth Ann Johnson at Tyrone Methodist church parsonage April 15, 1875, Rev. B. E. Wilson officiating. The couple had nine children, three surviving. They are: Reeder Shelow, Altoona; Sherman Shelow, at home and Roy Shelow, of Altoona. There are seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Shelow also survives. Mr. Shelow was a charter member of Fourth Lutheran church, Altoona, and also belonged to the Bellview lodge No. 497, I.O.O.F.
