Shoenfelt, an aged and respected resident of Taylor township, was found dead in bed at his home at 7 o'clock Saturday morning by his son Edward, when he went to awaken him. Death was due to complications with which he had been ailing for some time. Deceased was born at East Sharpsburg in 1829 and for fifty years had resided on the old Shoenfelt homestead, near Roaring Spring. He was a member of the Reformed church at East Sharpsburg. He taught school for several years and for thirteen years filled the office of school director. He was married in 1851 to Miss Margaret Marks. To the union were born thirteen children, nine surviving, as follows: Mrs. Ella Myers, of Woodbury; Horace, of East Sharpsburg; Allen B. of Roaring Spring; Jacob, of South America; George, jr., of Oklahoma; Adam, of East Liberty; Daniel, of Altoona; Mrs. Jacob Snowberger, of Taylor township, and Edward, at home. Sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral services will be held at the house at 10 o'clock this morning, in charge of Rev. E. S. Noll, pastor of the East Sharpsburg Reformed church. Interment will be made in the church cemetery. Shoenfelt, Prominent Resident of Taylor Township, Expires Suddenly - Former School Man. George M. Shoenfelt, aged 88, a life-long resident of Taylor township, was found dead in his bedroom at 7 o'clock this morning by a son, Edward, who went in to awaken him. His death was due to **** **** and other complications. He had been in ill health for some time. Mr. Shoenfelt lived on the old Shoenfelt homestead on Plum creek, several miles *** of Roaring Spring. He was born in 1829 at East Sharpsburg, the son of Jacob and Margaret Shoenfelt, deceased. In 1851 he was married to Miss Margaret Marks and immediately afterwards took up housekeeping at East Sharpsburg. He taught school in the township for several years and during some time was *** ***** as a clerk at the Cowen store at East Sharpsburg. Fifty years ago he moved to the home where he died. He was ***** school director in the township for a period of thirteen years. He was a member of the East Sharpsburg Reformed church.
