Shollenberger, formerly of 1601 Madison ave. and for the past eight years a guest at Hillview Convalescent Center, Altoona, died Tuesday, November 4, at 5:30 a.m. at the center following an extended illness. She was born Jan. 6, 1905, at Tyrone, a daughter of William and Rosa Zeilinger Shollenberger. She never married. She is survived by three brothers: Albert L., Cayuhoga Falls, Ohio; John W., Newport Richey, Fla.; and Carl A., Tyrone; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, a life member of the Pennsylvania State Retired Teachers Association and a member of the National Retired Teachers Association. She was a 1924 graduate of Tyrone High School and graduated from Indiana Teachers College, where she received a teachers certificate in 1930. She attended various sessions of summer school at the Pennsylvania State University from 1931 to 1957. She had devoted her entire life to leaching, beginning her teaching career in 1925 and teaching in the Snyder Township schools until 1929. In 1930, she began teaching in the Tyrone Area School District, retiring as an elementary teacher at Adams School in 1967. Funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone, with the Rev. R. Ray Evelan officiating. Interment will be at Eastlawn Cemetery, Tyrone. Friends may call at the memorial home Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to the First English Lutheran Church.
