Our Martinsburg correspondent writes: Mrs. Mary A. Shubert, of whose severe illness we spoke last week, died at the residence of her husband, John O. Shubert, on North Market street, at 5 o'clock Thursday evening, aged 43 years. The disease - consumption - which settled down upon her system several years ago, subjected the latter part of her life to be weary and burdensome suffering, at times intensely, but with Christian fortitude she bore all patiently until relieved by the ending that cometh alike to all. Some time since she was conscious of the approaching dissolution and gave explicit instructions as to the future of the little left to survive her. Having in the years gone by made choice, by profession of faith, of the better part she had a strong stay and support in the last struggle with the last great enemy, and having this faith she came off victor, the closing hours being apparently free from pain and calm and serene as the setting sun when the day is done. During the latter part of 1876 she was united in marriage with John O. Shubert who together with three small children survive her. She was an affectionate wife, a loving mother, a kind neighbor and dutiful daughter. The light in that home is gone out, as it is in the case in all homes, when the mother dies. Oh, who can estimate the worth of mother, who can measure her love and untiring patience and who can ever repay her for watchfulness over her dear ones. But notwithstanding her great care and anxiety for those she loves death intercepts her steps and she too must pass away. The funeral will take place on Saturday morning, the interment to take place in the Spring Hope cemetery. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Friday, January 30, 1891 MARTINSBURG MATTERS. The mortal remains of Mrs. Mary A. Shubert were laid away in their final home Saturday forenoon, amid the falling rain. The cortege, which was composed of a large following of relatives, friends and sympathizing neighbors, moved to St. John's Reformed church, of which she was a member, where services were held by the pastor.
