LOUISA SHUMAN, An aged and well known resident of Morrison's Cove, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Kauffman, at Martinsburg, last evening of old age, superinduced by several light strokes of paralysis sustained during the past few weeks. The deceased was born in the province of Wurtemburg, Germany, seventy-eight years ago, but with her parents came to America when about seven years of age, and she has been a resident of Morrison's Cove ever since. She was the mother of eleven children of whom the following survive: Mrs. Kauffman, at whose home she died, Mrs. William Ake of Martinsburg, Mrs. Lydia Latshaw of Woodbury, Frank and Ephraim Shuman of near Curry, Albert Shuman of Everett, and John Shuman, Mrs. Sarah Puderbaugh and Mrs. Catharine Diehl, all of Dallas Centre, Iowa. Previous to the death of her husband, Henry Shuman, a year and a half ago, the deceased lived at the Shuman homestead near Curry Station where the couple had resided over half a century. Less than two years ago the couple celebrated their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary. The maiden name of the deceased was Smaltz and of a large family but two survive: Charles Smaltz of the west, and Mrs. Mary C. Rabold of 1218 Second avenue, this city.
