Simondale, 75, of Albia, Iowa died early Friday morning, November 5, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born on June 2, 1929 in Tyrone, the son of James and Kathryn (Libel) Simondale. He married Dorothy "Dot" Hildebrand on June 18, 1955 in Tyrone. He is survived by his wife Dot of 49 years; one son, Michael Simondale and his wife Tonya of Moravia, Iowa; one daughter, Karan Simondale of Albia; one granddaughter that he raised, Teri Simondale of Albia; three other grandchildren, Jake, Seth and Mollie and three sisters, Florence Aults, Vivian Aults and Phyllis Shaw all of Tyrone. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Simondale and Ray Libel and three sisters, Marge Simondale, Edna Price and Anna Jane Emenhise. Kenneth graduated from Tyrone High School in Tyrone. He served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War from February of 1951 to February of 1953. He worked at Chicago Rivet and Machine for 43 years, starting in Tyrone and then transferring to Albia in October of 1976 where he became the Assistant Manager. Kenneth later retired in 1991. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Albia Country Club and also served on the Oakview Cemetery Board. After retiring, Ken spent many hours building in his wood shop, playing golf and having coffee with his friends. Funeral services were held this morning at 10:30 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Leveck officiating. Burial with military rites provided by the Howard Cessna Post #136 of the American Legion was held at Oakview Cemetery in Albia, Iowa. Casketbearers were Ronald Leshen, Steve Larson, Lowell Williams, Steve Hoskins, Phillip Yenger and Kenneth Williams. Honorary casketbearers were Lawrence Bernard, L. Jim Miller, Lester Poole and Michael Lawrence Sr. Memorials can be given to the family. Funeral home arrangements were made by Winfield Funeral Home, Albia, Iowa. Tyrone Daily Herald, November 8, 2004
