William Simpson, the oldest resident of Woodbury died at his home at that place Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock aged 83 years, 9 months and 17 days. For many years he conducted a saddlery [sic] and harness shop in Woodbury. He was a faithful member of the Lutheran church and as a regular attendant at church services had a record equalled [sic] by few persons. He was also a member of the Independent order of Odd Fellows, of Bedford lodge No. 202. Mr. Simpson was a consciencious [sic] man, and could not have had an enemy, so straight and so pure was his life. The funeral will occur Saturday morning at 10 o'clock when services will be held in Trinity Lutheran church, Woodbury, conducted by his pastor, Rev. Charles R. Streamer. Deceased is survived by his wife and one daughter, Elizabeth, who is the wife of Herbert J. Randall. Martinsburg Herald, January 3, 1913
