MRS. BESSIE SLAUGHTERS
 
  Mrs. Bessie Slaughters, formerly of 1106 Washington Avenue, died 
Saturday at 5 a.m. at the Mary Slaughter Home for Aged, Williamsport, 
after a 5-year illness.  She was born August 8, 1885, at Richmond, 
Virginia, the daughter of William and Bessie Johnson.  On June 14th, 
1932 at Philadelphia, she married to Albert N. Slaughters, who died 
October 7th, 1962.  Surviving are a son, Livingston Winston of 
Virginia.  A son preceded her in death.  Both sons are to a previous 
marriage.  Also surviving are two nephews, Joseph Marshall and Joseph 
Graves, both of Tyrone.  She had been a resident of Tyrone for 50 
years, was a member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church, and of the church 
societies.  Funeral service will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the 
Graham and Getz Funeral Home, in charge of Rev. W. J. Walton.  Burial 
will be in Grandview Cemetery, Tyrone.  Friends will be received at the 
funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
