Mr. Slingluff was born in Martinsburg, this county, and was first engaged in the foundry business. About 1850 he served one term as associate judge of this county. In 1855 he moved to Coalsburg, Iowa, and in 1858 he settled down in Eau Claire. He at once took rank as one of the foremost citizens, serving as county treasurer for six years and was revenue collector for four years. Judge Slingluff was married to Eliza Fore in 1836. To this union two children were born, Henry, a son, and Ella C., a daughter, all of which have preceded him to the grave. Mrs. Levi H. Nicodemus, of Altoona, is a sister to Mrs. Slingluff.
