EMMA SAWIN SMALLWOOD Widow of Roland Smallwood, died at her home, 317 Poplar street, Roaring Spring, yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock, death being attributed to a heart ailment following an illness of three days. She was a daughter of Martin and Sylvia Sawin and was born at Batavia, Ill, on March 6, 1855. She was united in marriage with Mr. Smallwood on March 6, 1873, and had been a resident of Roaring Spring for forty-two years. She was a member of the Bare Memorial Church of God, a former president of the Ladies Aid society and was active in Sunday school work and was a member of Roaring Spring chapter, No. 121, Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bertha Smallwood, and three grandchildren, Mrs. Elmer Myers and Edward Smallwood of Roaring Spring and Roland Smallwood of Hollidaysburg, and four great- grandchildren. SMALLWOOD - Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Sawin Smallwood will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home at 317 Poplar street, Roaring Spring, in charge of Rev. H. R. L___, pastor of the Bare Memorial Church of God. Interment will be made in the Greenlawn cemetery. Altoona Mirror, June 3, 1938
