All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ SAMUEL SMAY Died at the Altoona hospital at 2.30 o'clock yesterday afternoon of a complication of diseases after an illness of several weeks. Deceased was born in Cambria county, March 21, 1834, and had resided all his life in this vicinity. He was a shoemaker by trade and for many years followed the occupation at Duncansville, from which place he came to this city to reside some two years ago. He was a soldier in the Civil war, having served in Company C, Nineteenth Pennsylvania Volunteers. His wife preceded him to the grave eight years ago and he is survived by the following children: David Smay of Altoona; Frank, George, John, James and Samuel Smay of Duncansville and Ida Smay of Cambria county. He is also survived by one sister, Miss Barbara Smay of Cambria county. The remains were taken to the home of his son, David Smay of 510 Third street, from which the funeral will take place at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Interment in Carson Valley cemetery.
