MRS. ALICE C. SMITH

Of East Freedom, R.D., died at 11 o'clock Saturday morning at a local hospital 
after two years' illness.  She was born in Bedford county Nov. 10, 1884, a 
daughter of Caleb and Maria (Welsh) Mellott, and married Robert Smith July 10, 
1918, at Lancaster.   Surviving are her husband and these children: Guy B. Shaw 
of East Freedom and Eva Shaw of New York city, children to a first marriage; 
Robert C. and Reuben Smith, both of East Freedom, and  Archie M. Smith of 
Philadelphia; these step-children: Melvin Smith of Fort Dix, N. J., Elwood Smith 
in the army, Mrs. Helen Gibboney and Mrs. Violet Wilt, both of Altoona and Clair 
Smith of California; these brothers and sisters: Clarence Mellott of Florida, 
Mrs. Celia Wagner and Mrs. Julia Wertz, both of Amaranth, and Mrs. Minnie 
Thornburg of Columbus, O.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was 
a member of Smith Corner Mennonite church. Friends are being received at the 
Liebegott funeral home, Duncansville.
