SMITH Lifelong resident of Morrisons Cove and residing on a farm one mile north of Martinsburg for the past forty years, died at his home there last evening at 8 o'clock, death being attributed to a complication of ailments, following an illness of seventeen days. He was a son of George B. and Mary (Wike) Smith and was born in Huston Township, three and one-half miles from the present home, on Dec. 20, 1863. On Oct. 21, 1886, he was united in marriage with Miss Julia Rosann Metzgar, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Ephram Dutt, then pastor of the Lutheran church at Martinsburg. Six children were born to this union, of whom the following survive: Miss Bess S. Smith and Mrs. Helen Wilson, at home; Mrs. Grace Beach, of Martinsburg; Oscar S. Smith, of Roaring Spring and G. Dean Smith of Schellsburg. Mrs. Smith died on July 2, 1925. Six grandchildren also survive and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mary Hughes, Miss Elizabeth Smith, I. W., J. W., H. W., D. W, G. C. and P. C. Smith. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church and was active in the work of the church and was an industrious and energetic worker in his home community. Funeral services will be conducted in the Lutheran church Monday morning at 10.30 o'clock and will be in charge of his pastor, Rev. D. L. Shaffer.
