He had been employed for a number of years as a mechanic by the Altoona & Logan Valley Electric Railway company. He was born in Freedom township on Jan. 6, 1881, the son of William and Jane (Shaw) Smith. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Emma (Wysong) Smith; two daughters, Mrs. Ray Sollenberger of Canan Station and Mrs. Roy Feathers of Broad avenue extension; four sons, Ross of Roaring Spring, Homer of Carson valley and Dean and Boyd, at home; these sisters, Miss Blanch Smith of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Clara Shaw of East Freedom, and Mrs. Daisy Bowers of McKee, and two brothers, John Smith and David Smith of East Freedom. Mr. Smith was a Mennonite by faith. Friends are being received at the home. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., Monday, January 26, 1942 SMITH - Funeral services for Edgar Ross Smith, of Canan Station, Altoona, R.D. 2, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock at the Brethren church of Carson Valley in charge of Rev.
